Mariners put Lee on 15-day Disabled List
After foot surgery, an ejected and suspension of 5 games, Cliff Lee’s career with the Seattle Mariners has got off to a rough start. Unfortunately, the news on Sunday made matters worse when it was announced that Lee had been added to the Mariners’ 15-day Disabled List.
Lee was injured on March 15th in a spring training game against the Arizona Diamondbacks while covering homeplate. Rounding third, Arizona’s Chris Snyder came in to score, but made contact with Lee in the process. Lee suffered a strained lower abdominal muscle, but stayed in the game until he was ejected for seemingly throwing a pitch at Snyder.
The preseason injury is not the first for Lee. Back in 2007, Lee was injured during spring training, but never really recovered during the remainder of the year. He finished the season 5 and 8 with a 6.29 ERA, by far his worst season in the major leagues.
