Lee becomes 2nd Arkansan to strikeout 200 in a season
Benton, AR native Cliff Lee became only the 2nd Arkansan in major league history to reach the 200 strikeout plateau by whiffing Atlanta Brave Freddie Freeman on Monday, September 5th.
Lee joins North Little Rock native AJ Burnett, who struckout 203 batters in 2002 and 231 in 2008, which remains the single-season record among Arkansans. However, with several starts left in the season, Lee will have a chance to break that record.
Lee struckout a total of 6 in the game, putting his season total at 204. In addition, Lee also held the Braves scoreless through 9 innings the shutout.
